Valentine's Blog Event: Author Interview & Giveaway - Jessica Shirvington

If you're Australian like I am, chances are you've heard of Jessica Shirvington's Violet Eden series. If you're in...America, perhaps, then you'll be gearing up for the release of the first book, Embrace in March! I, for one, am super excited for you all to read this fantastic book. The series just keeps on getting better and better! Bring on book #4!

Today, I'll be sharing a lovely interview with Jessica! She discusses the romance in her own life plus the sizzling hot one between Lincoln and Violet. Oh...and did I mention the epic love traingle I adore? You can't help but love Phoenix. You could win the first three books plus some others in the giveaway I have at the bottom of this post!

If you're planning on reading this series or are a little unsure about it, hopefully this will let you get to know her characters a bit better! :) Either way, this book is a very very very worthwhile read.

Do you believe in love at first sight?
I believe in a connection at first sight. Love takes time. But sometimes you see someone and you just know that you want to know them, that for some reason they appeal to you when others don't. I also believe that we are drawn to specific people. I'm not sure if it is an energy thing or cosmic or whatever, but I think we often meet people for a reason.

What is your favourite movie romance?
Ever After with Drew Barrymore - such a sucker for that movie!

What do you think is special about Lincoln and Violet as a couple?
The core of their feelings for one another are real. Paranormal aside, what they have is special. They make mistakes (boy, do they make mistakes!) but most of them are made because of their desire to protect one another and the people they love. They are each others perfect reason to fight.

Did you always plan for the love triangle to develop as it did?
No. Not necessarily. And most of the time I don't even think of it as a triangle. I just think of each of the three main characters independently. They are not fighting with one another over love necessarily, they are fighting over greater issues. The love is just intermingled. And messy.

What’s the most romantic thing a guy has ever done for you?
My husband can be quite romantic when he chooses to be. When he asked me to marry him he led me blindfolded to our backyard. When I opened my eyes the floor was covered in rose petals and candles were everywhere. He was on his knees. Romantic.

Which physical features and personality traits and do you find most attractive in a guy?
Determination, willingness, moral fibre, spirit for adventure and spirit for movie watching! All round guy-you-can-rely-on kind of stuff really. As for looks. Well, my gorgeous husband says it all!

Who is your favourite YA couple, male and female? Why?
I honestly don't know. I often like one character a lot and have expectations for their love interest which are rarely met. If I had to choose a couple that I think were very interesting and enjoyable to read it would be Yelena and Valek from Maria Snyder's Magic Study series.

Are you quick to fall in love or does a guy have to work hard to steal your heart?
Both. I fall, then I make it hard!

Do you prefer the bad boy or good guy?
Depends on whether their heart is good or bad. It isn't good to love someone who hurts you or the people around you, but then, sometimes a person just needs a chance to be what they can be.

Do you prefer the happily ever after or tragic love story?
Hmm. I prefer the one that seems real. If it is tragic, then let it be tragic and heartbreakingly awful. If it is happily ever after, let it not be cliched please! But let it be earned.

Team Lincoln or Team Phoenix?
Ha! I'll never be able to choose between them. Violet might. But not me. :)

Did I also mention that Jessica's husband is the one and only, Matt Shirvington? The former Olympic sprinter, Matt Shirvington? And do we agree that they make an adorable couple? :) Let me know your thoughts on this series in the comments!
