Review: Silence

Title: Silence
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Series: Hush Hush #3
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Published: October 4th
Source: Simon & Schuster Australia for review

The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.

Did you think that this was the end of the road for Nora and Patch? Think again! There will indeed be a fourth book in the series and I am one hundred percent on board, ready to complete this epic adventure. The beginning of Silence is soaked with confusion, for both Nora and readers! Nora has been missing for months…and she can't remember a thing. Will destiny and sheer willpower lead her back to the path she was always meant to take? Or will others succeed in pushing her to live a new and safe life?

I'll be honest and say that the first third of the novel was very foggy and confusing for me - it was probably Becca's intention but at times it was just too much! With the wait from Crescendo, my absolute lack of memory about what had happened previously matched Nora's exactly. After waking up in a cemetery, Nora can't put the pieces back together because her friends and family aren't filling in all of the gaps. With the presence of her mother's sinister boyfriend and a suspicious but familiar boy, everything in her life is out of her control and on a downward spiral. Not only can she not remember what happened in the three months she was missing, but also the two months that came before that. After some long awaited explanations, things finally start clicking into place and we are ready to roll! While my mind was thoroughly shaken by this beginning, what soon follows is the usual brilliance we're used to from Becca!

As it's probably obvious by now, Silence is full of mysteries and twists. I was so in love with this! With Nora's memory increasing day by day, our perceptions of several characters and events constantly change in the best and worst ways. Gasps and screams of "no way!" will echo through the air as you slowly uncover the dark plots surrounding Nora's life. Silence moves at such a fast pace after that first third as the clock begins ticking down. A war is brewing…can anyone stop it?

I think the romance was absolutely swoon-worthy and at the best that it's ever been. Yes, I initially felt like punching Patch for…being Patch (aka evasive, cryptic and annoyingly "I know best") but the walls soon began crumbling down. Throughout the series, Patch has always had his secrets, but he's finally bared all. Gone are Nora and Patch's previous barriers as they are finally completely together, facing their problems side by side. They share a mutual trust that is so strong it can overcome anything, and Patch's new behaviour will make you clutch your heart with joy! But...some huge sacrifices are made by both characters that you won't believe.

I am so very excited for the fourth book. Once you read Silence, you will know exactly why. Something unbelievable happens and it will lead us into a explosive final book! Hurry and read this so that everyone in the world can scream together in excitement! A fantastic read once the story gets moving.
To you, how did Silence compare to Hush Hush and Crescendo?
